Hyaluronic acid treatment by groisman & laube

For visibly smoother skin – instantly!

We at groisman & laube use the hyaluronic acid Belotero®, manufactured by the Merz company in various dosages (soft, basic and intense) for wrinkle treatment. With gels containing hyaluronic acid we can correct wrinkles directly or increase lip volume. The gels are injected in such a way that they form a kind of padding and fill up the wrinkle from inside. The face looks immediately fresher and more lively and your lips appear naturally fuller.

Typical areas of application are the wrinkles between the nose and the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), wrinkles between the corners of the mouth and the lower jaw (puppet folds), wrinkles above the upper lip (peroral wrinkles), wrinkles between the lower jaw and the chin (mentolabial folds), cheek wrinkles, glabella wrinkles and insufficient lip volume.

In addition, hyaluronic acid can also be used for freshenig up the contours of chin (sagging effect), cheeks and nose or, else, it can contribute to a younger looking skin of neck and décolleté.

Hyaluronic acid – using the body’s own substances for fighting wrinkles

From a chemical point of view hyaluronic acid is a chain of sugar molecules and exists also in the human body in its original, unmeshed shape – higher concentrations exist mostly in the skin and in cartilaginous tissues. Hyaluronic acid is one of the skin’s building blocks that are responsible for maintaining moisture content. This means that it is very important for maintaining skin volume and has been in use as a filler for injecting underneath wrinkles since the nineties.

The hyaluronic acid filler Belotero®

Hyaluronic acid for therapeutical purposes exists in various forms. They differ in their molecular sizes and cross-linkage. The dermal filler Belotero® that we are using here consists of multiply cross-linked hyaluronic acid and can be inserted into the skin safely, reliably and easily – even deep wrinkles can be corrected effectively. Belotero® Intense is a perfect base for that since it has a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, excellent filling capacities and achieves a long-lasting effect. Sometimes a combination of Belotero® Intense and Basic may be useful for very pronounced wrinkles. In these cases Belotero® Intense will initially fill the wrinkle with its great volume effect and Beltero® Basic will then smooth out the edges. In this way, particularly harmonious and natural-looking treatment results will be achieved.

What do we need to know about filler treatments?

Treatments with hyaluronic acid achieve an immediate effect that makes the face appear smoother, more rested and lively. The treatment takes around 30 minutes and causes only minimal pain since the injection needles are extremely thin. If needed, we can apply numbing ointments or a local anesthetic. Due to the basic structure of Belotero® that resembles those of body substances no allergy test is required prior to treatment. The effect of hyaluronic acid is long-lasting but not permanent. Over time the substance will be decomposed naturally. After a few months you may decide again whether you wish to continue the treatment. Most patients want refreshments every six to twelve months in order to achieve a permanent effect. You may assume that the effects of a Belotero® treatment will last approximately 12 months.

Side effects of the hyaluronic acid therapy

Similarly to applications of Botox®any side effects of the filler treatment are also reversible that is to say they are not permanent. Since hyaluronic acid exists naturally in the human body the risks for allergic reactions or intolerability are very small:

  • After application of Belotero® swellings may occur since the injection liquid may temporarily influence blood and lymph flow. But this phenomenon will disappear within a few days.
  • At the points of injection you may temporarily feel tiny knobs that indicate an accumulation of the liquid. But they dissolve very quickly.
  • If blood vessels have been injured by the injection, there may be hematoma (bruises) that also disappear quickly.
  • The points of injection may turn red. But those very small discolorations will be visible only for a short time.

Contraindications of the filler method

In the following cases a treatment with hyaluronic acid is not indicated:

  • During pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • Hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Use of certain medications, such as acetylsalicylic acid, Marcumar and corticosteroids
